Perks in the English World

A man can use anything for his weapon but I suppose English Proficiency is still the most powerful of them all.
One of the perks for being an English Clubber is that you are slowly getting attached by mind, heart and soul to the world of English especially in terms of literature. The English Proficiency is like seeing your special someone in the in the waves of your eyes, in your spacious and open field heart and to your mind full of wonderful thoughts. And slowly realizing how the world is wonderful with the help of English Proficiency not only by mind but also by heart and soul. And within the bloody soul of ours, we need to put English Proficiency as a part of it.

October was originally the month of English Month Celebration but due to the continuous activities for the November it was rescheduled to the month of November. This year, the English club work –n hand-in-hand together with its affiliates to mark another history in the English world. This year’s theme is “Outpouring Hearts and Minds through Literature and English Proficiency”

We are a believer of our own world. And also, a believer that we can out pour our hearts and minds through the help of literature and English Proficiency.

Stop! We Are All Equal

“There is nothing more
unequal than the equal treatment of unequal people.”

But what do we mean by this? About equal rights and equal opportunities?

When it comes with the word ‘equality’ the first thought that popped out in my mind was about the gender equality. In our world today, gender equality is one of the major issues in our society. They always compare boys and girls. They always think that boys will be higher than girls. Why is life so unfair? On the other way around, even if we are unequal in many ways, we all deserved that equal treatment in one’s self. NO VIP TREATMENT, no favoritism and most of all no bias. But how does equal opportunity connect to equal rights? First, equal opportunity means a stipulation that all people should be treated similarly, unhampered by artificial barriers.
To connect it with equal opportunities, in terms of gender equality, between a boy and a girl finding a job in a factory. Sometimes, they always prioritize the boys first because people are lock up with the fact that only boys can do the heavy things. They block the door of opportunities for girls, which is wrong. Every human being in this world deserves to be treated equally, to have equal rights and equal opportunities.

We are all born equal, born to have equal rights, equal opportunities but only with different colors to make us unique from the others.

F L A S H B A C K

"You are always a student, never a master. You have

                 to keep moving forward"

Two down and only two more to go. 2nd Grading had officially ended. The one that made my brain explode into pieces.

2nd grading had become my downfall. Why? Lessons in the 2nd quarter were super hard. But on the other side, I learned many things that gave torture to my brain and body. Well that is the life being a student. In terms of other subjects like Math, Pythagorean identities and etc are some of our topics that I find it hard. It was really a torture to my brain. I felt o relief in my heart when we learned how to use and what the uses of HTML tags are. At the back of my mind, I said, “At least, this would be a lot easier than those other subjects”

This grading period, I also felt the feeling of rushing and coping up with the lessons and requirements. The feeling that you don’t know they’re past lessons, and when you had your class and your teacher says “Bring out 1 whole sheet of paper” OMG! A stabbed on my heart, I don’t even no what are their past lessons.  ~I bet you had that feeling too. ~

Moving on......

The same old line that I would tell to myself, STRIVE HARDER. WORK FOR IT, DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS JUST BE DREAMS. MAKE IT POSSIBLE.

I thank God for guiding me all the way through in my life. He became my compass in everyday life. I bet I’m just lucky in life, wait, no, let me rephrase it. I’m blessed.

Let the Games Begin!

Badminton, basketball, taekwondo, sepak takraw are some of the most awaited sports that brings color to our Intramurals. Just like in the movie/book Hunger Games, Let the games begin!!

Just like a torch, Intramurals began with a spark in everyone’s eyes last September 18, 2014, hoping for the best in their games. So what do we expect this year?

Intramurals is one of the most awaited events of the students this school year. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors race their way to the top to get the overall title for this years Intramurals. Well if you would ask me if what was my experience are during the Intramurals, I must say, it was partially a not-so-boring-but-boring Intramurals. Why? September 19, 2014, was the scheduled day for my game in Taekwondo. I was shaking to death like a scared monster searching for her mother. But it was fun. And one of the highlights of our Intramurals was the horror booth, movie, radio ‘n broadcast, food and marriage booths. I was assigned in the Horror booth, it was so hard to become and act like a ghost. All kinds of smell were inside in the 4 corridors of the room. But, who would expect a storm would come on the 3rd day of our Intramurals? It was very disappointing. It was our last year, and yet we didn’t enjoy our last Intramurals.

“A champion is someone who gets up when he can’t” The true spirit of every athlete. Even when you lose, at least you tried and did your best. And for me, that’s the best award that you can get. Cause in every competition, there’s always the one who wins, and also the one who lose.

Bow and Arrow: My Teacher, My Hero

Do you know Superman, Wonder woman, and Green Lantern? These are only some of the famous heroes in the world of imagination. Who is then our hero in the world of mortals? Open your eyes and see the astonishing world around you, do you know any? Do you see any? For me a hero is not only the way you see in their physical appearance just like Superman and Batman. But a true hero is within their heart and soul. And for me, that is my amazing teachers, my heroes.

Could you or should I say “we”, imagine the world without teachers? It is said to be true that “Without teachers, there would be no other professions.

T-errifying but they are the one who motivates me and help in all I do.

E-xtraordinary in their own special way.

A-stonishing talents and awesome knowledge on things.

C-reative ways of teaching us, students, or alternative ways in making every lesson enjoyable and at the same time we could learn things.

H-onorable and well-respected teachers of the world today.

E-xaggerated. Very well said, but exaggerated in another way, like in the field of caring and loving us students. They don’t want to fail us to fail and if we do they are the one’s there to help us, motivate and challenge us to strive harder.

R-emarkable. Teachers are special in their own special way. Each one of them leaves a special mark in this world.

My teachers are my motivators in the things I do when i'm about to give up in life. They are the new generations of Superman and Wonderwoman. Our second parents.

They are the bow and I am their arrow. They are the one's helping me to reach and achieve my target and goals in life.

Bow and Arrow.
My Teacher, My Hero.

Ammunition + Immunization = Immunation

Time flies so fast indeed and now it’s already September. Do you have any idea when September comes? It’s Science Month Celebration. When things combine, you create a whole new thing. Just like in this years Science Month Celebration theme, Immunation: Arming Science Clubbers with Healthful Defenses Towards National Wellness. The word “Immunation” comes from the words ‘ammunition’ and 'immunization.’

Immunization- word that defines to be free. Science clubbers must take into action. Become the eye opener in importing knowledge about these diseases. They must also share their knowing about these illnesses. Science clubbers don’t only think about their own good. They also seek for the better of their fellowmen.

In this world, the only thing permanent is change. As a young science clubber of the world today we must help hand in hand. For us to reach our dreams in he bulky galaxy.

My Compass in Life

Heroes are simply heroes. But do you know what makes them so extraordinary? Scoundrel persons, crisis of money, and a jam-packed of problems, there are the reasons that makes every hero extraordinary, to be a hero in their own way. It is where ‘heroes’ takes into action and be a part of the picture.

There’s a saying that “no man is an island”, that everyone needs help. For you who or what is your modern day hero?

Superman, Jose Rizal, Batman, Andres Bonifacio are just some of the famous heroes in this world. But did you have that thought, in another perspective, that anyone could be a hero? As days have passed, from the beginning of my life up to my death, I know that my family is my modern day heroes. Why? Aside from the fact that they are the one’s who gave me a chance to live in this world, they are also the roots of all goodness, the roots of my strength and confidence in life. To face all the problems that comes. My family is not just an ordinary thing in the world. They are like gold-rare and precious. Every attitude and personality of them is a treasure for me. Whenever I’m feeling down, my family is always there to cry with and help me.

Family has no end; they will never leave you hanging alone in midair. They are my energizer to keep moving in life and alive in this world.

They are my compass.
They are my treasure.
They are my life.
They are my heroes.

Another Chapter Unfolds

"You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward"

Life is no fun without the challenges in life. It’s like walking along in the sweltering and plain dessert. Just like in terms of studies, would we able to learn if there are no challenges waiting for us? June 2 2014, marks the date of the beginning of my senior life. And this is how my story for the first quarter unfolds.

Life being a senior student is a lot harder than what I expected it to be. I thought it would be just easy as one, two and three. Being a 4th year high school student is no easy task, you need to be more serious in life and in your studies. During the 1st quarter, many questions popped into my head? Like “What if I don’t overcome these challenges?” I felt pressured during the 1st quarter. But my conscience told me that I can do it. I learned different things, especially on how to make blogs. I was excited when I heard that for the 1st quarter we will be tackling about blogs. It was very interesting lesson for us, were able to make our 1st post and so on. In my journey, I was not able to escape the ‘problems’. Sometimes I’m out of the class or I was excused, I need to cope up with what they have done for that day. But with the help of my family slash classmates, I was able to finish my undone works. No man is an island indeed. And today, I am thankful for those problems that showered upon me because if there was none, I would not be the person I am today.

Moving on...

Hoooooooray! I was able to overcome all the challenges for the 1st quarter. Thank you for  carrying me all the way Lord. It was a very fun and challenging journey for me, but sad to say, 1 out of 4 of the piece of the pie is now gone. Only 3 more grading periods left, I need to strive harder for me to reach my goals in life. And that is the end of my story for the 1st quarter.

END

One for All, All for One!

July 28, 2014, marks the very indelible story of the Philippines, the 5th State of the Nation Address by our very indulgent and dynamic President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino. During the whole State of the Nation Address, different accomplishments and another blueprint foar our brighter future begins.

One of the sentences that made my heart, mind and soul become alive again is that “The Filipino is worth dying for, the Filipino is worth living for, and the Filipino is worth fighting for.” I indeed agree with this, because every Filipino has the right and responsibility in this country. Philippines was one of the most riches country in the entire world during the time of Marcos, but what happened today? As PNoy said in his State of the Nation Address, the Philippines is in sank deep because of dirty politics. Why did this happen? Why did PNoy let this happen? The trust, the confidence of the people are now vanished. PNoy should have way done better than this. But on the other hand, he is also a human, not perfect. As he said, he is like watching a 200 TV Channel at the same time. We should also think about the positive sides that he have done for our country. For example, the DAP or Disbursement Acceleration Program, he contributed Php1.6 billion for the TESDA’s Training for Work Scholarship Program. Within the 223,615 beneficiaries there were 66% or 146,731 who graduated and today have a stable job. As a young citizen of this country, I am indeed proud of our president for his accomplishments. But I learned that he must also help the one who have holes in their pockets, or should I say the people who re really in need of jobs and shelter. As he said, "We are striving to ensure that all who crossed the poverty line will never go back." I salute you PNoy.

On the last part of his State of the Nation Address, he stated that, we, his boss our the one behind the transformation of all the positive changes, the Filipino is headed towards the rightful destination. as one say, one for all, all for one! and that ends the 5th State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino. It was definitely the Filipino is worth fighting for.

Tick Tock: Kalamidad Paghandaan, Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan

"A fit, healthy body - that is the best fashion statement"
- Jess C. Scott

As we hear the ticking of the clock every second, every minute and hour, some people especially children suffer undernourishment. This year, July 2014, DepEd again celebrates Nutrition Month with the theme "Kalamidad Paghandaan, Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan".

The climate today indeed affects our health: storms and hurricanes. Climate change, one that causes people not to get the enough food they needed. For example, when people experience climate change, crops are withered and washed away, what will the people eat when there is no available source of vegetables and healthy foods. And because of these instances, the so called “junk foods” and others popped out in the story and act as a superhero for us not to starve, we eat without even thinking the possible effects, specifically the negative effects of it. So we need to take care of our health because it’s for our own good and future also to stop the undernourishment. We can puzzle out the problem of malnutrition if we are cognizant.

In our society today, we need to be prepared always, we need to be prepare for the calamity that may occur, so we can prevent hunger and malnutrition.

Letter to the President: Together We Will Rise Again

Ilocos Sur National High School
Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
July 1 2014

Honorable Benigno Simeon Aquino III
President of the Republic of the Philippines

Sir:

"Action speaks louder than words." True enough. Greetings Mr. President! I'm so glad to have an opportunity like this. There’s so many words that I want to squiggle in this post sir. First, I would like to introduce myself, I am Phaula Louisse Catura of Vigan City.

First of all, I bet you know what’s happening in our country today, right sir? For me, it’s not like yesterday. Yesterday that used to have curfew hours and a strict country but can above others. And today is like a whole new world, full of corruption and crimes. How can you prevent these kinds of things sir? Being the President of the Philippines is indeed a hard job, but you ran for that position sir and we gave you are trust to rule our country, as you’ve said “Kayo ang boss ko”. But where is now that promise of yours sir? Where is now your action? Will it be only stick to the words again? Another issue sir is the well-known Napoles Case. So what can you say about this sir? I think it's almost 1 year for that case and up until now, it is not yet done. So many extra scenes. Another one  is the VIP treatment of some of the senators in jail. Why is that so sir? I think it’s unfair for the other people who are non-government. After all we all live in the same world, so why give VIP treatments to them? Where’s the word “fair” to that sir? Gone.

But on the other hand sir, thank you for the things you’ve done for the Philippines. We are waiting for your action sir. To make Philippines shine again and rise among the others. Once again, mabuhay Mr. President! And together we will rise again!

Sincerely yours,
Phaula Louisse Catura
